Best McLaren Vale Wineries

5️⃣ Penny's Hill Drop in at Penny’s Hill and you won’t be disappointed. Named Penny’s Hill Vineyard after the hill at the base of which it is sited, the property was planted to vines in 1991 to a unique narrow-row configuration to maximise vineyard productivity and grape and wine quality. The winery has a great dining menu and please try their Chardonnay!💙

4️⃣ Coriole Vineyards is a lovely cellar door and winery and was founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd in 1967. Picture postcard wine & dining in an amazing location with amazing views. It is perfect for a more wholesome wine tour approach. It sticks to the traditional cellar door experience but with passion and commitment to their wines. It's a friendly "get to know you" style that is most welcoming. Indeed, the Cellar door staff are more than casual or part time staff; they are have as much fun as their customers🍷

3️⃣ Angove Family Winemakers is one of the oldest family owned wineries in Australia. This state-of-the-art facility is iconic and specialises in very organic wines. They offer a host of options for both the aspiring wine connoisseur and those looking for a relaxed environment to enjoy some wine with friends and family. The service is also excellent; the views are delightful & the wines are reasonably priced💵

2️⃣ Hugh Hamilton Wines is that classic OG winery with a finger of the pulse of modernity. 180 years and six generations of winemaking has produced of the best Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz in Australia! The property itself is shaped like a octagon and its almost like the structure has been dropped from space into a perfect vineyard”🍷

1️⃣ d'Arenberg is a beautiful architected structure which is both weird and wacky; but for all the right reasons. A cube like structure surrounded by vineyards and distilled delicious grapes. I had an incredibly fun night there in 2018 for the Surrealists Ball! It is a holy grail of wineries and you can’t help but be impressed by the new five-level d’Arenberg Cube. “With a sensory room, piped music that responds to vineyard weather conditions and ‘wine fog’, it’s a Willy Wonka Wine Factory.” 🟦
